Amazing grace how sweet the sound
that saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I’m found
Was blind, but now I see.
Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
and grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear
the hour I first believed.

It happened to me. Such a small thing. A God thing.

The promise of Easter fulfilled – the loosening of a chain in my life. A small chain, yet, a chain undone. A small thing in me set free.

My chains are gone, I’ve been set free My God my savior has ransomed me
And like a flood, His mercy reigns,
Unending love.
Amazing grace.

Have you experienced it? The loosening of a chain? Being set free from some captivity in your life?

Isn’t that the message of Easter and Christ’s resurrection? Grace and more grace.

It happened to me this week. A small thing. A God thing.

I was laying in bed praying in the early morning hours, when a person came into my mind from long, long ago – twenty five years, to be exact. Harsh words were spoken – and, it happened in a Bible study.

The Lord has promised good to me
His Word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be
as long as life endures.

I decided this thought was no accident – it was a nudge from God – so, I asked God to forgive me any ways I had hurt or offended this person. End of story. Simple. I didn’t expect much, as we’d lost touch years ago with this couple who lived across the world.

Hours later an odd thing happened, my hubby called me and said he had been reading a science article our daughter had asked his opinion on, and it ‘just happened’ to be co-authored by one of these friends from long ago. A coincidence? I think not. I call it a God thing.

My chains are gone
I’ve been set free.
My God my Savior has ransomed me
and like a flood,
His mercy reigns
Unending love.
Amazing grace.

This prompted us to re connection by email. Apologies were made on both sides, and, somehow, reconciliation happened in this seemingly small and insignificant place. It mattered to God.

It amazes me that God cared about such a small thing. Seemingly insignificant, yet important enough for Him to orchestrate a reconciliation. Knowing God cares for the small stuff makes it so much easier for me to trust Him for my big needs.

Our broken hearts need healing. They don’t mend on their own. They need a God touch. He comes down and touches these hurting places – not with a band aid, but with a blowtorch – He cauterizes the deep separations and reconnects them through the fire of His grace.

God’s ways to my mind. Forgiveness – God’s antidote for what ails us. The gift of Jesus resurrected life – grace for our Here and Now life and grace to cover all our sins giving us hope for heaven – a restored life with God.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
the sun forbear to shine
but God who calls me here below
will be forever mine.

I’m awed that God allows me a tiny part in this story –  my simple act of asking forgiveness and forgiving another, helps unleash God’s resurrection power. Hallelujah! I’ll be honest, it makes me want to look for any and every way I can forgive myself or another. I don’t want to be stingy – I want to receive and offer God’s grace lavishly to the world.

**Lord, Thank you – You have done it! You bring your life and healing grace into my broken places. Thank you for Your grace it amazes me!

“Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Matthew 18:18
